How to substantiate a missing part

Combine a document defining the delivery contents, an inventory of what was received and records of the unpacking circumstances. A single advertising photo often shows an illustrative configuration, so compare it with the model, order and agreed specifications.

List the item designation, expected and actual quantity, and the source of each detail. Do not automatically declare an unfamiliar part surplus: its shape may differ from the schematic drawing in the instructions.

When a technical examination is needed

It helps establish whether the missing element belongs to the agreed set and how its absence affects assembly, function or product safety. Expert examination does not replace establishing the handover circumstances if the contents changed after receipt.

  • Keep the packaging and all remaining parts.
  • Record who performed assembly and which work has already been done.
  • Do not fit unsuitable fasteners merely to test the product.
  • Provide the specialist with the seller's response and the complete list of disagreements.
